Following the tragic lightning strike, Trinamool Congress suspends party rallies in West Bengal

In the Bankura region of West Bengal, during Sunday's thunderstorms, a 40-year-old Trinamool Congress activist was murdered and at least 25 other people were hurt by lightning strikes, according to the police. The event took place in Indas at a party rally addressed by Abhishek Banerjee, national general secretary. Saber Mallick, a demonstration participant who was rushed to a hospital after lightning hit a nearby tree, was there when physicians there proclaimed him dead, according to a police officer.

“During the rain, several TMC employees sought refuge beneath the tree. After lightning struck it, Mallick died and 25 other people were hurt, the officer claimed. According to him, seven of the 25 wounded victims were brought to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital because of their critical conditions. “Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by the lightning strike at Indas. We offer the deceased's family our sympathies and will do all we can to help them. We're keeping an eye on things and coordinating with local authorities to get the wounded some medical care,” the party said. Debangshu Bhattacharya, a TMC youth leader who was speaking at the gathering when the event took place, hurried over to the scene.

“Everyone here is shocked. We were instructed to aid the wounded and the surviving family members by our commander, Abhishek Banerjee. We will cover all of the wounded person's medical costs. Before the panchayat elections, Banerjee organized a rally at Indas as part of the party's outreach effort, “Trinamooley Nabajowar” (new wave in Trinamool).
