According to Apu Das, the official in charge of the Sabroom police station, searches were carried out at two homes in Baishnabpur village close to the international border in response to a tip, and the illegal immigrants were detained.

He said, “We also arrested three locals who gave these Bangladeshi nationals shelter.”

Geographical issues prevented the 62-kilometer border in the Sabroom district from being completely walled, and as a consequence, people traffickers are taking advantage of it, according to Das.

“We will not tolerate any kind of human trafficking. Human trafficking-related severe charges are also being brought against those suspected of aiding in infiltration, he said.
