The warning was issued in response to Delhi’s overall air quality, which remained in the “severe category.” However, because of Saturday morning’s light rain, certain locations in the nation’s capital are expected to see improvements.

The Health Ministry provided an updated advice to the states/UTs on Friday. It advised school heads, parents, and health officials to devise a system to raise awareness and persuade them to encourage their students to adopt better habits to reduce air pollution.

Additionally, if the AQI is bad or above, the ministry encouraged the states and UTs to stay inside and not go outside.

According to the report, schools should encourage students to commute in their own cars, vans, or school buses in order to cut down on emissions.

“Educators should make sure that classrooms are adequately ventilated by installing exhaust fans or opening windows appropriately. If the air quality is bad or worse, they should shut the windows. should start using wet mopping to clean school floors either before or after classes start. Instead of using chalk to write on the board, marker pens may be used,” the advisory stated.

The ministry gave medical authorities and school workers advice on how to educate students and staff about health risks connected to air pollution and how to handle crises when necessary.

The ministry also requested that “health sector response action plans during high levels of air pollution (particularly post-Diwali, stubble burning, and winter days/months (SMOG) in state/district/city)” be prepared by the relevant authorities in its recommendation.

“The action plan should be carried out by the Health Department when the AQI is greater. In order to coordinate IEC initiatives with other relevant departments, the department could grow. According to the advise, health institutions may provide daily AQI values to the public in order to educate them about air pollution prevention, control, and protection strategies.

The ministry said in its advice that some groups are more susceptible to air pollution than others.
