No civilization or country can reach new developmental heights by ignoring its history since the past never really leaves a person or a community. The chief minister said after laying the cornerstone that the magnificent times of the past serve as a fresh source of inspiration for the nation.

“There is a chance to break new ground and advance. The laying of the foundation stone for the Naval Gallantry Museum on the banks of the Gomti River, also known as Adiganga, marking this new era of growth, is a momentous occasion for Lucknow and the state.

The chief minister expressed optimism that the project would establish new ground for UP’s waterways and provide jobs for young people.

“Prior to 2014, people used to claim that nothing could leave the Upper Peninsula via rivers. We used to hear in communities around 40–50 years ago that boats were employed for water transportation.

“The only means of transportation and carrying goods from one place to another was through rivers and waterways during the times when there was no network of roads and no efficient train movement,” he added.

Uttar Pradesh has an adequate supply of water resources. The state is moving quickly to create a state waterway authority in light of the medium and capacity of these rivers. He said that with greater use, we could exploit the potential of water to move any object throughout the state.

Between Varanasi and Haldia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi linked the nation’s first operational inland canal. Now, he continued, if the state waterway authority would assist by cooperating with the authorities of the Government of India, it would aid us in raising the state’s capability.

The decommissioning of the INS Gomti, which for 34 years improved the Indian Navy’s capabilities and solidified its strategic position, would result in its inclusion in the museum, the chief minister remarked.
